Building in public: this phrase is used by IT developers and startups to describe internet posts which are important signs of progress, but are not perfectly written descriptions. In art we use the phrase “work in progress”. A related phrase is “a look behind the scenes”.
(As always, I worry about the translation into Japanese, and apologize for any misunderstandings).
公開中の構築：このフレーズは、IT開発者や新興企業が、進捗の重要な兆候であるが、完璧に書かれた記述ではないインターネット上の投稿を説明するために使用される。芸術の世界では「進行中の作品」という表現が使われる。関連する言葉に「舞台裏の様子」がある。
(いつもながら、日本語への翻訳には頭を悩ませている。）

The handpainted maps have always been interesting to me. They are instantly recognizable and functional to those living in Japan. To tourists and visitors, they may seem “exotic”. They are a true depiction of Japanese culture, but they are not cliché. They remind me of compositions by Mondrian, the painter. These maps are my inspiration for creating promotional materials for the Nice and Clear tour.
手描きの地図はいつも私にとって興味深いものだった。日本に住んでいる人にとっては、一目でわかるし、機能的だ。観光客や旅行者には「エキゾチック」に見えるかもしれない。日本文化を忠実に描写しているが、決して陳腐ではない。画家モンドリアンの構図を思い起こさせる。これらの地図は、ニース・アンド・クリア・ツアーの販促物を作る際のインスピレーションとなっている。
